Ceramic 3D Printing

In May 2013, Medalta invited a group of artists, designers and researchers to participate in a residency at the Shaw International Centre for Contemporary Ceramics.  The purpose of the residency was to provide artists with the opportunity to explore two convergent technologies; Ceramics and 3D printing.  With a lot of assistance from the printer technician Greg Pugh (now at Tethon 3D), I was able to experiment with the technology and translate my idea into a digital file,  then to a fired ceramic object.

My exploration took me from a 2D drawing, a spirograph, and expanding it to become a 3D object, a spirograph inspired bowl with a mirrored spirograph foot.
